Beer Style: American Strong Ale
This is a wide-open beer style. Most strong ales are high ABV, ranging from 7-25%. These brews can also have barley wine and old ale characteristics.
Appearance: Pours copper-ish amber in color, with massive initial heading that dissipates to ¼ inch
Aroma: Bread, malt and piney hops
Taste: Sweet malt, piney dry hops finish with alcohol
Mouth-feel: Smooth, full bodied
Overall: There has been lots of love for Lagunitas in the past few blogs, and deservedly so!
Undercover is a fairly complex brew with lots of flavor, yet not a definitive style. I get flavors like barley wine, IPA and and Imperial Red Ale.
Undercover is very unique, with 9% ABV (but put together well). This is another outstanding offering from Lagunitas! However, it is also a seasonal beer, so be sure to get yours while you can!
I have had this beer a few times, (before it came to us at Wise Guys), and it has always been one of my favorites!
