Beer Style: Hoppy Wheat Ale
Appearance: Bright yellow and slightly orange in color. Small head. Hazy and cloudy
Smell: Lemons, pineapple, hops, & grapefruit
Taste: Just as the aroma hints – lemon, pineapple, bitter hops, orange peel, strong bitter grapefruit finish
Mouth-feel: Dry with a medium body
Overall: Recently, there have been a few breweries making a go at this style. This is the same style as Three Floyds Gumball Head, but it is different in taste. There is a lot more lemon flavor and citrus hops in this beer and it is not as sweet. I find this beer somewhat refreshing and it may have been released too early (summer would be better). Lots of bitter, dry grapefruit on the finish, which I seem to like more after the initial taste. If you like the sweetness of the Gumball Head, you may not like this beer. I do like this beer, but would prefer to drink it in the warmer outdoor temps. This beer currently is available at WiseGuys for $8.99 for 6 pk nr for a limited time.
