Nectar Ale’s Nectar IPA
6 pk nr for $10.47
Nectar Ale is a new arrival in the store and it seemed interesting. I’ve been told that it is an IPA brewed with honey. I was also told that the beer is brewed out of Fire Stone Walker, a brewery that makes one of my favorite IPA’s, Double Jack.
Appearance – Nectar’s Ale pours a golden copper in color with a nice thick yellow to white head. It looks hazy and that surprised me because it seemed to be filtered
Smell – It smells sweet, but not “malty sweet.” I smell the hops first…. then a honey-like sweetness which is followed by a bread-like scent. (Very interesting to say the least.)
Taste – Nectar Ale is well rounded. It starts hoppy then transitions into a slight honey sweetness with a little bit of malt in the middle. It ends with a nice crisp paleness. It was not overwhelming like a lot of pale ales.
Mouth-feel - It was kind of thin for 6.7% abv signal IPA, but it does have a fresh crisp aftertaste. Not much carbonation, but I don’t think that it hurts this beer at all.
Overall – I like this beer! It is different then most IPA’s I’ve had recently, but not in a bad way. It is plenty hoppy with a slightly sweet honey taste, but then finishes with hops….Never once letting any of the flavors overtake the flavor of the hops.
Cheers,
Beer Guy
