Two Brothers Resistance

Resistance is another out of the Two Brothers J Series.  It is an IPA that has been aged French Oak Founders.  This is a seasonal beer that normally comes out around this time.

Appearance – Resistance pours a nice light copper in color with a white head that is not very big, but is not going anywhere.  It is definitely filtered…very clear.

Smell – Smells of hops, with a light malt to it.  You can smell the wood & a little bit of vanilla.  I am guessing that comes from the oak wood.

Taste – Very bitter up front, but balances nice.  There is slight taste of malt in the middle, but not enough to over-power the hops.  The beer is definitely very hop-forward.  I get a slight sour twist at the end that blends nicely with the hops, but never over-powers them.  You can tell they wanted this complex, but did not want to ruin the end result…a hoppy IPA.

Mouth-feel – Very light, but drinks very well with crisp, good carbonation.  It leaves my mouth kind of dry, but it is to be expected with this style.

Overall – Resistance is a very good beer and I would recommend it to people.  This is not the beer for the novice IPA drinker, but a very good one for the hop-head that wants something a little different.  The French oak gives it a nice, sour twist on the end that really makes it different.  This is the perfect change-up IPA.
