Beer Style: Winter Lager - Technically, this beer is billed as a dark wheat bock. Bock beers are strong dark lagers.
Appearance: Dark amber with some reddish hues, faint head
Aroma: Cinnamon, ginger, spice, malt
Mouth-feel: Full-bodied and smooth
Taste: Similar to the aromas but much maltier in flavor
Overall: This annual winter brew is one of my favorites. The flavors are very well balanced , the spice-cinnamon goes very well with the malt profile (there's enough malt here to almost call this a Scottish ale).
There are no real hop flavors present here and the alcohol is mild as well. This is a great winter transition beer from Sam Adams.
I would highly recommend for anyone who likes spiced beers or heavier malt brews.
