White Hatter by New Holland Brewing
Available at Wise Guys for $9.99 per 6pk
Beer Style: Belgian Style WPA
This beer is a hybrid of sorts, part Belgian Wit and part IPA.
Appearance: Slightly orange and yellow with haze. Nice one-inch head
Aroma: Lemon, grapefruit, spice
Taste: Coriander, spice, dry and bitter white grapefruit
Mouth-feel: Full-bodied
Overall: My initial thought on the beer is, “this is not for me.” BUT about mid-way through I warmed up to what New Holland is trying to do--make a citrus hopped wit beer. Wits are basically wheat beers that tend to finish dry. White Hatter has a dry finish and a tart-or slightly sour-finish as well. I did not expect that.
If you like Belgian wits, but always wanted some citrus hops then this brew is for you.
White Hatter is available now, but it is a seasonal brew, so act fast.
Cheers,
Beer Guy
