Two Brothers Hop Centric Double IPA
6 pk nr - $17.97
Hop Centric Double IPA is one of my favorites from Two Brothers. It was formerly named “Hop Juice,” and came in a 22 oz. bottle. Now, Two Brothers released it in a 6 pack. It is the biggest and hoppiest beer they produce--a whopping 9.9% ABV and 100.1 IBU!
Appearance – Hop Centric Double IPA pours a dark copper color, with a small but relevant head. The beer poured somewhat thick.
Smell – The smell is dominated by hops. I could not smell anything else.
Taste – Hop Centric Double IPA tastes very fresh. The hops are very pronounced. I taste hops at the beginning that balances out in the middle. The beer ends super-hoppy and bitter, but not harsh. It is a very well-made, balanced beer. I also like the fact that it doesn’t have to much malt. I really don’t like it when a beer has a malty mess in the middle. Hop Centric Double IPA has just the right amount of malt.
Mouth-feel - Hop Centric Double IPA has a thick, somewhat cream-like mouth-feel that you get out of a really good double/imperial IPA. It has the right amount of carbonation that hits the back of your tongue in a good way. I would compare the mouth-feel to Dog Fish Head, Bells Hopslam, and Brew Dog Hardcore IPA
Overall - Hop Centric Double IPA is everything that I would expect out of a double imperial IPA. I would highly recommend this beer to any hop head that is looking for a hoppy beer. Two Brothers Hop Centric Double IPA is one to look for every year. I am not sure if they changed the recipe along with name, but if they did, it is for the better.
Cheers,
Beer Guy
