Beer Style: Farmhouse Ale
Saisons are sturdy farmhouse ales that were traditionally brewed in the winter, to be consumed throughout the summer months. Not so long ago it was close to being an endangered style, but over recent years there's been a massive revival; especially in the US.
This is a very complex style; many are very fruity in the aroma and flavor. Look for earthy yeast tones, mild-to-moderate tartness. Lots of spice with a medium bitterness. They tend to be semi-dry with many only having touch of sweetness.
Appearance: Pours with a huge dirty head, slowly dissipates. Lemony-yellow with some orange in the color.
Aroma: Belgian funk, yeast, spice, coriander
Taste: Lemons, orange peel, coriander, Belgian yeast, bitter hops, pepper
Mouth-feel: Yeasty, wheaty, dry, citrusy
Overall: The Farmhouse style is a great beer for the spring season. There are tons of flavors in this beer! I would highly recommend if you are a Belgian beer fan or currently a Blue Moon drinker. This beer is the perfect example of the American version of this style. It checks in with 8% ABV. A must-have for spring!
