Southern Tier Hop Sun

I wanted to do a summer beer and I haven’t tried Hop Sun yet.  I have been told that Hop Sun tastes like Three Floyds Gumball. (Since Gumball is rarely available and with summer approaching, I thought it would be a good one to review).

Appearance – Hop Sun is very light in color.  Light gold/yellow with a medium head.  It seems lively with a lot of carbonation

Smell – I smell wheat right up front.  Some fruity smell, but I can’t quite identify it.

Taste – Hop Sun is very light in flavor.  I get wheat up front again.  Slight pear flavor with a bit of sweetness at the end.  It just dies off quickly without a lot of flavor.

Mouth Feel – Very light, crisp taste to Hop Sun.  A very thin beer that doesn’t leave your mouth top dry

OverallHop Sun makes a good summer beer.  Very light and not much going on in it--but that is what you want out of a good summer beer.  This beer isn’t meant for sitting inside and comparing beer with a fellow craft beer fan.  It is a hands-on-going-outside-and-get-in-the-sun beer.  Perfect for cookouts, going to the beach, or sitting on your porch.

6 pk on sale for only $9.97 (5/24/13 – 5/30/13)
