Beer Style: American Brown Ale – style originated as an English Brown Ale and the American version uses American ingredients and varies in both alcohol content and bitterness
Appearance: Dark brown; pours with a small head; not much lacing
Smell: Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt
Taste: Dark chocolate, rich roasted malt, some coffee, and rye
Mouth-feel: Smooth, somewhat creamy, finished dry
Overall: Brown ales can be very light and bland, but this brew has a lot of flavor with focus on dark chocolate & roasted malt. I also get some caramel notes. This is a 6.5 abv. beer and it hides the alcohol well. I think it is the perfect dark seasonal food beer and it will pair well. If you like Scottish ales, you will like this beer.
