Boulevard 80 Acre

I chose Boulevard 80 Acre because with Three Floyds Gumball Head becoming harder and harder to find, I am looking for something that is comparable.  Boulevard 80 Acre is described to be a “hoppy wheat” (same as gumball).

AppearanceBoulevard 80 Acre pours a light yellow straw in color with a nice small, white thick head

Smell – At first, I smell wheat with some sweetness.  Then it changes to a hoppy smell with some kind of fruit. (I think that it is grapefruit.)

Taste Boulevard 80 Acre tastes just like it smells. First, I taste wheat with sweetness,   then the hops begin to give it a fuller taste.  Finally, it ends with the fruit that begins as orange transitions to grapefruit and ends somewhat pale

Mouth-feel  - Boulevard 80 Acre is a light body, crisp beer.  It has plenty carbonation that leaves your mouth very refreshed.

Overall   I wouldn't say that Boulevard 80 Acre is Gumball Head, but they are pretty similiar.  It has a little less hops flavor which allows you to taste the wheat notes. It does have a citric, grapefruit-like flavor.  Since it is a 5.5% ABV beer, Boulevard 80 Acre still makes it a very seasonal beer.
