Beer style: Winter seasonal ale – brewed in the tradition of Swedish Glogg
Appearance: Dark reddish brown in color, low carbonation, little head, some lacing
Smell: Spices, cinnamon
Taste: This beer is a spice bomb! Flavors include cinnamon, cardamom, figs, and some clove
Mouth-feel: Dry and peculiar
Overall: This is a unique beer for sure. It is brewed with all the textbook Swedish Glogg ingredients and it is very heavy on the spices. I thought that it should be served warm to help release all of the flavors, but the brewers suggested chilled. Spiced-up beers like this are not my forte. But, there is a crowd for this style of beer and for that crowd it will not disappoint. This beer is seasonal and it sold out very quickly last year…If you are curious, get yours very soon.
